Contaminated Site Investigations

 A Stage 1 Preliminary Site Investigation  involves a site visit and desktop study of past land uses with the objective to identify potential sources of contamination which could have lead to soil contamination or groundwater contamination. The aim is to form a conceptual site model of the site so that sources and sinks can be identified. The Stage 1 PSI can help determine whether a Stage 2 Detailed Site Investigations is required. 

 Deals with the issues raised in Stage I contamination investigations but provides a deeper understanding by outlining the type, extent and level of contamination. Earthwise Environmental will assess the potential risk of contamination to the local environmental and the general public and provide practical recommendations on how to move forward to the next stage of development. All work carried out in accordance with the National Environment Protection Measure (1999) as amended in 2013. 

Our advice for site remediation is founded on a risk-based approach to contamination, thereby assisting our clients find a balance between project costs, timelines, relevant local or state regulatory requirements, and community expectations. 

We can help assess whether the Remedial Action Plan (RAP) goal has been achieved allowing you to know confidently whether or not the  contamination has been  dealt with appropriately. 

 We provide advice and options for soil re-use; whether it is for use on/off-site  or for resource recovery. 

Samples can be collected either in-situ or from stockpiled material. 

Sampling in-situ soil for soil classification can also be useful for forward planning and help eliminate construction delays and double handling.

Environmental Consultant assisting with Soil Testing, Soil Contamination studies, Environmental Management Plans (EMP) which are site-specific to ensure that necessary measures are identified and implemented in order to protect the environment. The scope of an EMP will vary depending on the scale and type of the development project.
